It is applied by most countries, including the EU, the USA, China and the Gulf states.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is heat treatment (HT)?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Heat treatment raises the wood core temperature to <strong>at least 56 \u00b0C for 30 continuous minutes<\/strong>, killing insects and larvae. It is the chemical-free alternative to methyl bromide (MB) fumigation, which many countries restrict or ban.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The ISPM 15 mark<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The IPPC logo.<\/li>\n\n<li>Country code: <strong>EG<\/strong> for Egypt.<\/li>\n\n<li>The treatment provider\u2019s registration number.<\/li>\n\n<li>Treatment code: <strong>HT<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The wood must be debarked. In Egypt the competent authority is the Central Administration of Plant Quarantine, Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation.
